A bit about us
The Practice
Janes Architectural was established in 1992 by Chartered Architectural Technologist Simon Janes. Over the following years the practice has developed and gained a wealth experience particularly with regard to individual luxury homes, both new build and major renovations, as well as alterations to existing properties. We are based in Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield and are well placed to serve both the requirements of local clients as well as those in the surrounding areas.

We have a passion for stunning architectural design and attention to detail and take pleasure in bringing client dreams to reality. Whilst striving to understand what our clients wish to achieve. We listen to your requirements and interpret the brief accordingly considering any site constraints. If appropriate we will offer alternatives and recommendations to maximise or enhance the design quality of the end product.
We will work alongside you for the complete project, from advice on buying the right property and the initial concept scheme, to walking through the front door of your completed property.
Experience and relationships
We have strong relationships with construction industry partners with regard to the extended design team, main contractors and specialist sub contractors as well as the Local Authorities. We also work closely with local Estate Agents and assess current trends to ensure we maximise the value of your house as an investment.
We have established relationships with specialist suppliers form bespoke joinery and ironmongery through to swimming pools, and leisure facilities. Our experience also extends to home automation and audio-visual systems, security systems and bespoke cinema rooms as well as how to store your wine collection!
In addition to designing properties encompassing traditional charm and detail, our experience of working with, and incorporating the latest building methods and mechanical services is extensive. We have completed buildings with insulated concrete formwork (ICF) walls and basements, structural insulated panel (SIPS) roofs, mechanical heat recovery ventilation (MHRV), air and ground source heat pumps, under-floor heating, solar hot water heating and photo voltaic power generation, also rain water harvesting and on site sewage treatment.
The grounds and garden can be as important as the internal accommodation itself, through careful design and vision we ensure that your property interconnects seamlessly with its surrounding landscape, incorporating landscape design features to compliment the property.
Fully consultative and adaptive design service
Depending on project complexity, size and budget we can work with you from inception to completion at high levels of detail, or if being self-managed, then provide you with just the relevant Local authority consent and documents which you will require to proceed with your project. We can provide options on various levels of service in between, tailored to suit your specific requirements.
We can assist with putting together the full design team including Planning Consultants, Structural engineers and Quantity Surveyors as well as Ground investigation, Ecological, Arboricultural and Topographical surveys, we can also assist you with elements of the Interior Design.
